Student Led Conferences Begin This Week!

Parents,

This week promises to be a revealing week for you and your child. Let’s be honest, this week will definitely be a “wake up” call for our students as we prepare them to start middle school in the oncoming months. I’ve been working all year long to prepare our students to take ownership for their learning, and this week will be a good trial run before reality hits them in July. I’ve attached two documents (of which one is below) that reviews the purpose for a student led conference and reflection questions that you’ll be asking your child when you meet with them this week.

Here are the links for the following documents (if you don’t have a printer at home, no worries because your child is taking a copy of these documents home).

2015 Student Led Conference

Student/Parents Spring Conferences Schedule.

Parents,

Here is the following schedule for Spring Conferences.

2015SpringParentStudentLedConferences
This coming Tuesday, you’ll receive a check list of what to expect from your child and questions to ask them. I find that this form of conference works best towards this time of the year, being that your child will have to learn to keep their learning accountable to you from middle school all the way through high school (maybe even college). This year, I’d like your child to introduce their learning through the use of Google Apps for Education, and they’ll be sharing that with you through our laptops in our classroom. I will be present at the conference to answer any questions over the report card or anything you may have pending. Within the upcoming checklist, you’ll see the format of our actual conference schedule and how each 20 minutes will be broken down.

Thanks,

Mr. Garcia

Read Across America

Parents,

As you know, reading is one of the most essential and crucial focal points in education. This week we’ll be celebrating reading on campus and technically throughout our entire country. Please take a look at the announcement below.
